L A's Best-  This after school program runs Monday through Friday from the end of the school day until 6:00 pm.  Kindergarten through 5th grade students are eligible to participate.  It is designed to give students homework help, learning activities to boost core academic skills, opportunities to join, practice with, and compete on a sport's team, arts, a nutritious snack, and supervision while parents are working.  It is free of charge but space is limited.

Youth Services-  This after school program runs Monday through Friday from the end of the school day until 6:00 pm.  It is for 2nd grade through 5th grade students.  It is designed to provide supervised enrichment of homework, table games, fitness, and sport activities in a safe environment.  It is free of charge.

Koreh L.A.-  Adult community volunteers come to our school each week to read to and with our students.  They promote the importance of literacy and the joy of reading.

YEP-  YEP (Youth Empowerment Program) is a mentorship program.  UCLA students are paired with 4th and 5th grade students each school year.  UCLA mentors meet with their Stoner Avenue mentees about once a week.  YEP's goal is to provide our students with positive role models.  You will find YEP mentors reading with our students, playing sports, doing arts and crafts, discussing goals and college, and taking our students on school approved special field trips.  Many of our students keep in touch with their mentors after they move on to middle school and beyond.

SCOPE-  The UCLA SCOPE brings a special Fitness and Nutrition program to our 4th and 5th graders designed to teach students the importance of healthy eating and physical activity to eliminate child obesity.  Our students receive one hour of instruction throughout the eight week program taught by UCLA students majoring in science and health related fields.

Outdoor Science School-  This week long overnight educational experience is available to students in 5th grade.  Instruction takes place at an off-school campus LAUSD approved site where students learn 4th and 5th grade California State Science Standards from teachers called naturalists, who are specially trained in earth and life sciences.  The tuition for outdoor science school is approximately $300 per student but scholarships may be available for family's in need of financial assistance. Stoner Avenue 5th grade teachers attend and participate in supervision, the daily hike, and science lessons.  Many of our students say that this learning experience is their most fun and memorable of their time at Stoner Ave.
