English/Spanish Two Way Dual Language Program
Stoner Avenue Elementary is the home of an exceptional Spanish/English Two Way Dual Language Program. Our Dual Language program offers students strong language development and proficiency in English and Spanish, the development of strong thinking and problem solving skills and supports social and emotional skills through the celebration of cultural and linguistic differences. We promote academic excellence and an appreciation and respect for all people.
Our Dual Language teachers have high expectations of themselves, their students and families. They work as a team to create communities of learners where they promote critical thinking and personal growth through the use of research based methods and additive bilingualism strategies such as transferrable skills and Project Based Learning. Our students learn all subjects in both English and Spanish. Our curriculum includes: Benchmark/ Adelante Reading, Eureka Math, McGraw Hill Impact/Impacto and the new Amplify Science. In these times of Distance Learning, our teachers are using online tools and programs that can help provide the same level of excellence as if our students were in the classroom!
For parents, we offer constant open communication and participation. There are parent meetings, workshops and trainings so that you may be informed of the advantages of the program and so that you may help your student be as successful as they can be!
Our added bonus is our Folklorico Dance Program which will continue its loved performances when we return to school!
